We included an agency if it had homes for sale in Sintra or Colares on idealista on 24 September 2026, works in English, markets to international clients and holds an AMI licence (the estate agency licence issued by IMPIC). We checked every AMI number on the IMPIC register on 24 September 2026, and on the agency’s own website where shown. Languages are as the agency declares them on its idealista profile or its own website; where only website languages are known, we say so. Listing counts and price ranges are from idealista on that day and change daily.

Listing agencies act for the seller under the mediation contract. An agency cannot be paid by both buyer and seller in the same deal (Lei 15/2013, article 17(2)(a)).

International networks and affiliates

Dils Portugal (formerly Castelhana)

Castelhana, a Lisbon-headquartered agency, describes itself as a Dils company. The licence holder is Castelhana – Sociedade de Mediação Imobiliária, Unipessoal Lda. It has no Sintra office; its nearest offices are in Lisbon and at Rua Melo e Sousa 395 in Estoril. It works in the upper-middle to luxury segment. On 24 September 2026 it had 4 Sintra listings on idealista, from €1.18 million to €1.95 million, and 2 in Colares. Its idealista profile declares Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. AMI 3497, verified on IMPIC. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. Ask which group company will sign your contract, as the brand has recently changed.

Tradeoff: its Sintra stock is small and handled from Estoril or Lisbon, and the brand changed recently.

Engel & Völkers Sintra

Engel & Völkers Sintra is a shop of the German Engel & Völkers network, run by the licence partner Execuprop, Lda. It is one of the few network offices inside Sintra municipality, at Estrada Chão de Meninos 23, 2710-196 Sintra, and its shop page lists Colares, Pêro Pinheiro, São João das Lampas, Mafra and Ericeira among its areas. It states that it works in English, German, Portuguese, Spanish and French, and covers residential, investment and luxury property, including countryside and seaside homes. AMI 19061, verified on IMPIC; the company’s registered address on IMPIC is in Óbidos. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. Your contract is with Execuprop, not the brand.

Tradeoff: each Engel & Völkers shop is a separate company, and this one covers a wide stretch of the west coast.

JLL Residential Portugal

JLL Residential is the Portuguese residential arm of the international property consultancy, trading as Jones Lang LaSalle (Portugal) – Sociedade de Mediação Imobiliária, S.A. It works from Lisbon and has no Sintra office. On 24 September 2026 it had 13 Sintra listings on idealista, from €750,000 to €16.5 million, and 4 in Colares, from €1.15 million to €8.5 million: among the most expensive stock in the area. Its idealista profile declares Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. AMI 8654, verified on IMPIC and shown on its website; check that the number on your contract matches. Its pages do not state a service for buyers.

Tradeoff: its Sintra book is concentrated at the top end, and it covers the area from Lisbon.

Porta da Frente Christie’s

Porta da Frente – Sociedade de Mediação Imobiliária, Lda is the Christie’s International Real Estate affiliate for Lisbon, Cascais, Oeiras and the Alentejo. It has no Sintra office; its nearest are in Cascais (Avenida Marginal 8648-B) and Oeiras. On 24 September 2026 it had 30 Sintra listings on idealista, from €339,000 to €16.5 million, and 3 in Colares, from €1.8 million to €4.6 million, which makes it one of the more active prime agencies in the area. Its idealista profile declares 12 languages, including English, French, Dutch, Swedish, Russian and Chinese. AMI 6335, verified on IMPIC and shown on its website. Its pages do not state a service for buyers.

Tradeoff: it serves Sintra from Cascais and Oeiras, not from a local office.

Portugal Sotheby’s International Realty (Estoril office)

The Sotheby’s International Realty brand is run in Portugal by separate licensed companies. The office with Colares listings is the Estoril office, operated by Sinalazul – Mediação Imobiliária, Lda, at Avenida Aida 295A, Estoril. On 24 September 2026 it had 4 Colares listings on idealista, from €2.23 million to €2.95 million. It works in the luxury segment, and its idealista profile declares Spanish, English and Portuguese. AMI 7744, verified on IMPIC. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. Because each Sotheby’s office is a different company, your contract is with the licensee that takes the instruction, not with the brand as a whole.

Tradeoff: it has no Sintra office, and its local stock is small and at the top of the market.

Quintela + Penalva | Knight Frank

Quintela & Penalva Associados – Sociedade de Mediação Imobiliária, Lda trades as Quintela + Penalva and is the Portuguese associate of the British firm Knight Frank. Its head office is in Lisbon (Rua Aviador Plácido de Abreu 1C), with bases in Cascais (Av. Sabóia 514 A, Estoril) and Porto; there is no Sintra office. It works in the upper and luxury segment. On 24 September 2026 it had 10 Sintra listings on idealista, from €325,000 to €3.85 million, and 2 in Colares. Its idealista profile declares Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. AMI 6182, verified on IMPIC and shown on its website. Its pages do not state a service for buyers.

Tradeoff: it covers Sintra from Lisbon and Estoril, with a modest local book.

Agencies based in Sintra municipality

Colares Properties Real Estate

Colares Properties is a local independent agency trading through Coerentesboco – Unipessoal Lda. Its office is in Colares itself, at Avenida dos Bombeiros Voluntários 63, 2705-180 Colares; its registered seat on IMPIC is in Mem Martins, also in Sintra. It says it started trading in 2024 and handles sales and rentals for national and international clients. Its website is in Portuguese, English, French and German; it does not state which languages its team speaks, so ask for an English speaker when you call. AMI 22866, verified on IMPIC and shown in its website footer. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. It is the only agency in this list with an office in Colares parish.

Tradeoff: it is a young, single-office firm focused on Colares rather than the wider coast.

HB Luxury Real Estate

HB Luxury Real Estate trades through Hipóteses Unânimes – Unipessoal Lda. Its office, per its idealista profile, is on Rua do Centro Empresarial, Quinta da Beloura 2, Sintra; its registered seat on IMPIC is in Magoito, São João das Lampas, also in Sintra municipality. It works in the prime segment. On 24 September 2026 it had 45 Sintra listings on idealista, from €269,900 to €4.45 million, and 7 in Colares, from €495,000 to €2.98 million: the largest Sintra book of the local agencies we checked. Its idealista profile declares Spanish, English and Portuguese. AMI 18333, verified on IMPIC and shown in its website footer. Its pages do not state a service for buyers.

Tradeoff: it is a single-office local firm rather than part of an international network.

Sandra Serrano Real Estate

Sandra Serrano, Lda is a premium boutique based inside Quinta da Beloura, at Rua Mato das Cruzadas 7, 2º P, Quinta da Beloura II, Linhó, Sintra. It focuses on Quinta da Beloura, a private condominium it describes as having 24-hour security, and on Cascais. On 24 September 2026 it had 14 Sintra listings on idealista, from €720,000 to €2.2 million. Its idealista profile declares Spanish, English and Portuguese, and its website is in seven languages. AMI 20372, verified on IMPIC and shown in its website footer. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. For a seller in Beloura, Linhó or Penha Longa, it is the agency in this list with the closest office.

Tradeoff: its patch is narrow, with little stock in Colares or the vila.

Regional agencies covering Sintra from Cascais

Grupo Eleven

Grupo Eleven trades through Kvip – Sociedade de Mediação Imobiliária, Lda, with its office in São Domingos de Rana, Cascais. It has no Sintra office. On 24 September 2026 it had 11 Sintra listings on idealista, from €300,000 to €2.25 million. Its idealista profile declares eight languages: Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian and Ukrainian. That range may help a seller whose likely buyer does not speak English or Portuguese. AMI 12379, verified on IMPIC and shown in its website footer. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. Ask which consultant would handle a Sintra listing and how often they are in the area.

Tradeoff: it covers Sintra from the Cascais side, without a local office.

Imojoy Real Estate

Imojoy is the trading name of António Silvestre, Mediação Imobiliária, Lda. It is headquartered in Cascais, with stores in Cascais, Oeiras, Lisbon, Porto and Portimão, but none in Sintra. It works mainly in the mid-market: on 24 September 2026 it had 9 Sintra listings on idealista, from €295,000 to €1.1 million. Its idealista profile declares eight languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Russian. AMI 12689, verified on IMPIC and shown in its website footer. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. For a townhouse or flat in Portela, the vila or the railway-line parishes, its price range is closer to the local median than most agencies here.

Tradeoff: it has no Sintra store, and its Sintra listings sit below the prime band.

Inside Living

Inside Living, Lda is an independent agency based at the Estoril Office business park, Avenida da República 3000, Alcoitão, Alcabideche, in Cascais municipality. It says it has been active since 2008 and works in the upper and luxury segment; its listings on 24 September 2026 included estates in Colares. Its website is in eight languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, Swedish and German. AMI 8417, verified on IMPIC and shown in its website footer. Its pages do not state a service for buyers. It also appears on our Cascais agents list. The office is in a business park rather than a street-front shop, so arrange visits in advance.

Tradeoff: it is Cascais-based, and its Sintra activity is a part of a wider coastal book.

For quintas and country houses

No price series exists for quintas as such. Colares homes sold for a median €3,728/m² over the 12 months to March 2026 (INE), against €5,072/m² asked on idealista in August 2026. The Sintra parish union sold at €3,465/m² and asked €4,290/m². At the top, agencies list Sintra homes up to €16.5 million (Porta da Frente, JLL) and Colares up to €8.5 million (JLL).

The agencies with the largest Sintra or Colares books on idealista that day were Porta da Frente Christie’s, HB Luxury, JLL and Quintela + Penalva. Engel & Völkers has a shop in Sintra; Colares Properties is the only agency here with an office in Colares.

For a quinta, ask each agency three things: recent sold prices (not listings) for comparable estates; how it will present the park zoning and licence position to buyers’ lawyers; and whether it has sold a property where an extension or annex needed regularising. In the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, extensions are capped at 250 m² gross in complementary protection zones, and exterior works in heritage protection zones need a prior opinion from Património Cultural. For sellers who live abroad

• Language on paper, not only in person. Ask for the mediation contract (contrato de mediação imobiliária) in Portuguese with an English translation. Engel & Völkers Sintra states five languages; Grupo Eleven, Imojoy and Inside Living list eight each.
• Remote signing. You can sign the CPCV and the deed through a power of attorney (procuração), notarised and apostilled if signed outside Portugal. Ask whether the agency has completed sales where the owner never came to Portugal.
• Keys and viewings. Eight of the twelve agencies have no office in Sintra municipality. If your house is empty, agree who holds keys and how often someone checks it.

Is there a buyer’s agent in Sintra?

None of the agencies above states that it acts for buyers. A buyer’s agent represents only the buyer; agree in writing who pays them. For buyer’s agents that work on the Lisbon coast, see our Cascais agents list, and check whether they cover Sintra before you instruct one.

How to choose an agent to sell in Sintra

• Check the licence. Search the AMI number on the IMPIC register, and check that the company on the contract is the licence holder. Several brands here are run by companies with other names.
• Ask for sold prices. In Colares, asking prices sit about 36% above the INE median paid; in the Sintra union about 24%.
• Negotiate the commission. Commonly about 5% plus 23% VAT, paid by the seller at the deed. On an €850,000 quinta, one percentage point is €10,455 with VAT. See estate agent commission and costs of selling.
• Keep exclusivity short. Three to six months. A contract with no stated duration lasts six months (Lei 15/2013, article 16).
